Summer & Sleep Training

As summer approaches many parents wonder if it makes sense to simply wait to sleep train- as a sleep consultant, my answer is don't wait! Why? Sleep is far too important for the development of your little one's brain, memory function, and cognitive development to wait. Often in the summer our little ones play much harder which means their brain and body is working much harder and needs better recovery time.


If you are traveling this summer, you can still train. I recommend being home for 2 straight weeks as you train prior to any travel. Set your routine and new sleep expectations for your little one, then while you travel stick to it as much as possible. I recommend having a roll away cot or air mattress rather than co-sleeping so your little one doesn't get confused with expectations while on a trip.
